Monthly Themes: March--Go Green

For March's Go Green I wanted to capture something growing. With the rain we've had this winter California is catching up a little on the drought, not quit completely, but some progress is being made. Green grass and blooming flowers are showing all over the state. This capture is from my Dad's back yard in Bolinas. I love the contrast of purple and all the different shades of green, and how the green inside the stalk appears to be shimmering. Molly's Image Sarah's Image

A Year of Sundays--Succulents in the Garden

I didn't make it far outside today, getting distracted by some activities in the house, I almost forgot to take my photo. So, I headed out to the garden and captured some macro photos of water droplets on a succulent. Sunday, January 18 Outtake of the succulent, still macro, but a little more plant to see. A Moment in Time: 2am--Macro Mouse

For the 2am challenge I had intended to go outside and save the inside shots for 3 and 4am, but that didn't happen, and I decided to play with light on a glass mouse figurine. So far, I'm noticing that regardless of my image, location or subject, light (or lack of it) is becoming a key element. It'll be interesting to see if that keeps up in the daylight hours. 2am on February 2nd Molly 2am Sarah 2am

Macro Flowers and Leaves

I went to the Huntington Gardens this past weekend to test out this amazing new macro lens I was recently given, and these are a few of my favorites. I really enjoy taking macro photos and looking at ordinary objects in a new way.

Yellowstone Photo Workshop

Here are just a few picks from the recent photo workshop I took in Yellowstone... more to come soon when I am home and have a chance to do some post processing work.

Selects from the Worldwide Photo Walk

A few favorites from the Worldwide Photo Walk last weekend. Last year I did a downtown LA walk and this year headed a little north to Ventura to explore a new area.
