Photos as I Like It

This Sunday brings me to an outing with my Mom down in Santa Cruz. She has three images in a really interesting exhibit at the Pajaro Valley Arts Council , an exhibit of alternative process in photographic media and I joined her at the opening reception. So for today's image I headed out to West Cliff Drive and Steamer Lane to capture a typical Santa Cruz image of surfers, despite the very few waves there were several people out in the water.  I really liked watching people find their way into the water. We've come to the end of this year's photo challenge, and it was definitely a great one. We all loved the connection of photographing at the "same time". Look forward to a similar challenge next year. Thank you to Molly and Sarah for being fun partners in photography. For my final photo, I went in search of Christmas lights in Santa Cruz, while at a sleepover at my Mom's with a couple nieces. I captured the Walton Lighthouse at the yacht harbor decorated with lights, a nice outline to illuminate it's shape in the dark. 11pm on December 13 Molly 11pm Sarah 11pm

For the 5am moment, I have another new location to feature. I'm in Santa Cruz, which is the beach town I grew up in. Not knowing what would be lit at this time of the morning, I gave myself extra time and drove along west cliff to see if there were any interesting lights from the wharf or Boardwalk. It was pretty dark for awhile, and then I found a few lights reflecting off the water from the wharf and surrounding shops and hotels.  5am on March 22 Molly 5am Sarah 5am
