2016 Photo Challenge--Monthly Themes: January--New Beginnings

Molly, Sarah and I are back at with our annual photo challenge. This year we're going with a monthly theme, staring with New Beginnings for January. You can see the full list for each month below.

For January's New Beginnings theme, I have an image from a recent trip to the Sierra's, where on top of several feet of snow, a completely new blanket of snow came down. I was able to walk out to a snow covered lake and be one of the first people to walk on and see the fresh powder. Quite a beautiful site (and so desperately needed for the state of California).

Monthly Themes:

February: Loving Life
March: Go Green
April: Spring Colors
May: Street Photography
June: Travel
July: Summer Fun

A Moment in Time Repeat: 1 PM

1 PM: birthday photos at the beach in Del Mar, with my feet in the water and a view of my favorite hallway... this will do.

A Moment in Time Repeat: 5AM and 6AM

To finish the pre-dawn hours of 5AM and 6 AM, I'm completing the four corners of Bay Station. Many of the intersections along Lincoln, a main thoroughfare across Alameda, have "station" names to match the cross street where there used to be streetcar station. My intersection is named Bay Station for Bay street. For 5AM I captured my third corner that contains a very popular shop that buys and sells collectible shoes. For 6AM I captured the fourth corner that houses a small local corner shop. There are many of these small shops down Lincoln avenue.
